Each province is different in the way they handle the requirements and applications for a permanent installation of x-ray equipment.
Ontario
|
In Ontario, all dental offices that use x-ray equipment must have their floor plan approved by the Ministry Of Health X-ray Inspection Service. This application consists of form 1, form 2, form 3 (one for each room with an x-ray machine) and 2 copies of you dental office floor plan. The requirements for x-ray shielding are based on the adjacent occupancy to the room containing the x-ray equipment. It is important to note that compliance with these regulations is the responsibility of the owner on the x-ray equipment. The Ontario Planning & Design Dept. provides this application service for all of the offices it designs and any Henry Schein Ash Arcona customers that may require this service.

At the present time there is no governing body regulating the installation or use of x-ray equipment. As a minimum you only require two layers of ½" drywall to attenuate the primary x-ray beam.
